My Skyler

As I mentioned in my last post Skyler is now 1! So I thought I would tell about him and what he is doing now. I took him in for his 12 month check up and he weighed 20 lbs and is 28 in long. That puts him in the 25% for weight and 10% for height. He is a shorty!! He started walking about a week to a week and a half before his birthday. So he was ready to take off and I knew he would be! He is such a fun little boy! He for sure keeps me busy and loves to get into everything, but he is such a fun, cute, loving little boy! These are just a few of the things Skyler is doing....
Walking
He says ball and wow (still no mama)
He LOVES his big brother and follows him wherever he goes
He loves to play outside
He loves taking baths
He is seriously the best sleeper ever, now sleeping through the nights
He loves his mommy!
He is just such a sweetie and we love him so much! I can't believe how fast the last year flew by. But I wouldn't trade any second for anything! Its also hard to believe that he is already going to be a big brother.... Yes for those of you who don't know, we are having another baby. Im due November 19th and no it was not in any way planned! It was a huge shocker!! But I guess the Lord had plans in mind for us that we didn't have for ourselves. We are getting more excited as the time goes by and it'll be really fun to find out what we're having in a few weeks!

Disneyland, Birthdays & More!

So FINALLY I'm blogging about our trip to California. Just warning up front its a SUPER long post, so consider yourself warned and read on at your own risk.....

We left for California on Wednesday night (over a month ago). We flew out at 7:40 pm and got to California about 9:30 that night, 10:30 our time. So we were all very tired and ready to get to my brothers house and go to bed. Both kids were really good on the flight there. Skyler had a few moments but since my parents were there too it was nice that we could pass him back and forth. He did not like it at all when we started to descend and his ears were plugged. That was pretty much the only moment he cried and was upset. Issak just loved that we were flying and that he could see the clouds and the moon. Anthony also did really well! It was his first time flying and he was VERY nervous!! But he stayed calm and was very brave!

Thursday morning we woke up ready for Disneyland... it was also Skylers first birthday! We blew up a bunch of balloons the night before so that when he woke up they would be there for his birthday. He loves balloons and really liked playing with them all morning. He got a few presents from us and my parents and we sang happy birthday to him and then we were off to Disneyland!

When we got to Disneyland we had to walk through down town Disney so we stopped at some of the stores there and looked around. Issak had saved up $40 to spend on whatever he wanted while we were there. So he was excited to look through all the shops. We of course got the boys mickey ears, Skyler was not to happy about them at first but warmed up to them and kept them on for quite awhile. They were both so cute in them!!

We of course had to take the classic picture by the Mickey flowers!

The lines were very long. We went over spring break... wouldn't recommend it! We had a GREAT time, but the lines were crazy long and the crowds were ridiculous!

Skyler was such a good boy the entire day! I was a little worried about him because he doesn't like to sleep anywhere but a bed or the car and if he doesn't get his naps he is a very grumpy boy. But he was SO good! He slept in the stroller when he was tired and loved getting out to ride the rides. He didn't however like the rides. We only took him on the kid rides of course but every ride we got off of his little lip was pouting and the whole ride he just clung to us and hid his face in our necks. It was really cute!

The next day we decided to go to dinner for Skylers birthday. My brothers birthday was a couple weeks before so we had them sing to both of them. We went to dinner at The Spaghetti Factory and Newport Beach. It was very yummy and so fun!

We also went to the tide pools. The tide was just coming up but my brother went out and found a couple starfish for Issak. Issak thought it was so cool to see and hold a real live starfish! It was also his first time seeing the ocean and he LOVED it!

Earlier in the day we went blowing. Issak loves bowling and seriously is so good at it! He scored more than some of us adults. He did have the bumpers but still to knock down so many pins is pretty impressive!

On Saturday we went to the Sandiego Zoo. It is one HUGE zoo! They have so many cool animals that I had never even seen before! We saw a baby gorilla that had to be the same size of Skyler. It was so darn cute! I wish I had gotten a picture but there were so many people crowded around the window that it was hard to get a good one. We also saw a Hippo swimming. I've seen it in cartoons, but never in real life. It was so cool to see that HUGE animal just swimming like it was no big deal! It was really fun to walk around and see everything. It is such a big zoo though that we walked about half way through and took the zoofari bus tour the rest of the way to see the rest of the animals that we didn't see while walking around. After the zoo we went to dinner at Applebee's and Skyler was SOO tired and had had it and was NOT happy at the restaurant. The manager or some lady came over and brought him crackers and orange slices to see if that would calm him down.... I was so embarrassed! Im sure it was her way of telling us to shut him up! It worked though! It was a very fun day as well!

Issak leading the way
Sunday was Easter, so we woke up and went to church, just sacrament meeting. It was chilly and a little rainey while we were there so the only really nice day to go to the beach was Sunday. So after church we went home and ate lunch and got ready for the beach. Issak was SO excited to go to the beach. I think besides Disneyland it was the one thing he was most looking forward to doing. He absolutely LOVED playing in the ocean. Skyler was afraid of it all. It was really funny, if I tried to put him down in the sand he would just cling to me. He wanted nothing to do with the ocean or the sand which really surprised me. But he was fine as long as someone was holding him. It was so fun to play with Issak in the water and to build sand castles with him. He just loved it!!

Monday morning my brother, Anthony and dad were going golfing and when they were done we were going to go to the beach again and get milk shakes and play before we had to go home that evening. Well that didn't happen... about 2 hours after the men had left to go golfing my brother called my mom to let her know that my dad had broken his ankle. Yes playing golf! How does that happen you ask. Well he wasn't wearing his golf shoes and the grass was wet with morning dew. He swung, slipped and landed weird and broke his ankle right off! Seriously OFF! his foot was only attached with skin and whatever else, the 3 bones connecting his foot to his leg were broken. So his foot was just dangling there. After he fell he tried to stand up on it and he said he just felt his foot slide under him. YUCK!!! So my brother called 911 and they came to the golf course. Because of the pain his blood pressuer plumeted and he started to go into shock and was shaking like he was having a seizure and because of that they couldn't give him morphine for the pain becuase it can make your blood pressure drop even more. So my poor dad had to sit there in complete pain until they got him to the hospital which luckily was just down the road. So me, my mom, Fitriah and my kids hopped in the car and went straight to the hospital. He ended up having to have surgery and they put 7 screws, 2 pins and a large plate in his ankle and told him they wanted him to stay in California for 3 weeks before coming back home. He had to stay in the hospital for 3 days (including the day he got there) then him and my mom had to rent a car to drive home that Friday and got home Saturday. We still flew home that night and I was freaking out about flying with Skyler and not having someone to pass him to when he got tired of me. But he actually did really well and it turned out fine. All in all it was an extremely fun trip and we loved it and cant wait to go back... Well I can't anyway!! I LOVE California and would move there in a second!
